About Tidal Tees
Woman-run, small business focused on engaging the public in ocean conservation through marine life art and sustainable products that speak to the heart.
My name is Sydney, I’m 22, and I started Tidal Tees during my senior year of high school (4 years ago) to raise awareness about the many problems facing our ocean. I recently completed by Bachelors of Science degree at Stony Brook University in Marine Vertebrate Biology with a minor in Ecosystems and Human Impact. Now, I'm continuing my marine biology journey at FAU Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institute where I study Stony Coral Tissue Loss Disease (SCTLD) and coral restoration for my Masters of Science degree.
For as long as I can remember, I've loved the ocean (even though I grew up nowhere near it in Western New York) and have wanted to be a marine biologist since the 3rd grade. I always thought that I couldn't help our ocean until I graduated college but four years ago that all changed when I realized I could make a positive difference in the world by combining my love of art with my love for the ocean. Since its conception, Tidal Tees has sold close to $80,000 in apparel and donated to 25 nonprofits with a wide range of conservation efforts from algal blooms to right whales. I hope this company has encouraged you to help our oceans in any way possible, from saying no to using plastic straws, to signing petitions to help pass environmental legislation.
