About Tidal Tees

Woman-run, small business focused on engaging the public in ocean conservation through marine life art and sustainable products that speak to the heart.

My name is Sydney, I’m 22, and I started Tidal Tees during my senior year of high school (4 years ago) to raise awareness about the many problems facing our ocean. I recently completed by Bachelors of Science degree at Stony Brook University in Marine Vertebrate Biology with a minor in Ecosystems and Human Impact. Now, I'm continuing my marine biology journey at FAU Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institute where I study stony coral tissue loss disease (SCTLD) and coral restoration for my Masters of Science degree.

For as long as I can remember, I've loved the ocean (even though I grew up nowhere near it in Western New York) and have wanted to be a marine biologist since the 3rd grade. I always thought that I couldn't help our ocean until I graduated college but four years ago that all changed when I realized I could make a positive difference in the world by combining my love of art with my love for the ocean. Since its conception, Tidal Tees has sold close to $80,000 in apparel and donated to 25 nonprofits with a wide range of conservation efforts from algal blooms to right whales. I hope this company has encouraged you to help our oceans in any way possible, from saying no to using plastic straws, to signing petitions to help pass environmental legislation. For more information on how Tidal Tees is sustainably run, please visit my Commitment to Sustainability page. Thank you so much for all of your support!

Best fishes,

Sydney Bell
